Fujitsu Hitachi Announce 1080p Plasmas

Fujitsu Hitatchi Plasma Display Corporation today announced 4 new plasmas: FHP60V, FHP50V native 1080p (1920x1080), and 2 'irregularly pixeled' 1280×1080 plasmas . All displays are build on ALIS core which is a single chip video processor. Recent trend is to combine all processor chips into one silicon and then scream about it the same way as Sony did in their recent VPL-VW50 ( Pearl ) SXRD projector.
50-inch 1080p sports an incredible 10000:1 contrast ration while the 60-inch 1080p lags behind with 5000:1 which is still very good. Brightness is 1100cd/m2 and 1000cd/m2 respectively. Glass on these plasmas is 1.8mm thick ( or thin ) versus 2.8. Less thickness provides less glare on the screen which is one of the shortcomings of plasma technology.
Prices and availability was not discussed however company expects to reach 300,000 units by the Q2 of 2007.
